Going, going, gone!

Last week the city of Hampton in Florida, population 450,was voted to be dissolved "with all possible haste."

In 2013,Hampton's mayor, Barry Moore, had been replaced, after been convicted for drug peddling. In a widening investigation, corruption was found at every level of the town hall. City employees were allotted 'take-home' cars and personal records of their salaries and bonus payments have been 'lost in a swamp'.
The water department cannot account for 40 % of the water it pumped and for which taxes were charged.
Meanwhile the Police Chief, giving evidence before a special committee, said, "You could not make this stuff up in a book."
( In his own department there were 17 police cruisers charged with one purpose, to exact "cash register" justice on passing motorists by issuing speeding tickets.)
As of next week Hampton City will be no more.
If only that could be said about Chicago. CNN is running a Robert Redford special next week titled "Chicagoland".
In this heartland city, Mayor Rahm Emmanuel and his council cannot account for $480,000,000:00 of public funds and crime and corruption have turned downtown into a veritable Gotham City.
Years ago the Bible said: "Except the Lord keep the city, the police patrol in vain." Psalm 127 v 1
How true. Hampton went down with one police cruiser for every 30 residents, and Chicago has a list worse than the Titanic with a force of 15,000 officers.
But, take heart. Noah floated a limited company of 8 when the rest of the world went into liquidation!
There is still plenty of room in the New Ark of Jesus for every one who will come!

dancing with wolves

Yesterday, Rose Marks, a psychic from Florida was sent to jail for 10 years. Over the space of a decade she had bilked her customers out of $17,000,000:00 plus other undisclosed gifts of assorted jewellery and expensive accessories.
Rose Marks called her clients 'dear friends' and for obvious reasons, they had kept her in luxury for years, although this morning she is enjoying different accommodations.
Prominent among her victims was nationally known romance author, Jude Deveraux. Ms Deveraux had approached Marks to make contact with the spirit of her dead son and, by the sleight of spirit-transfer, finished believing that Brad Pitt was in love with her!
The judge in the case said: " I don't know why these people believe these crazy stories but, for whatever reason, they do."

The Bible supplies the answer to the judge's question.

In the first chapter of Romans, Paul the Apostle writes of those who reject the truth of God's word.

"Professing themselves to be wise they became fools and changed the truth of God into a lie."

Fortune-tellers, psychics, horoscopes, tarot cards, Ouija boards, crystal rubbing, rolfing and the rest of the mumbo-jumbo, God declares to be a delusion of the devil. We need to dump it and get back to the Holy Scriptures. They will save your soul and your money as well.

Eli and the Monarchs

Having asked the question of how the angler fish managed without it's worm for a million years while it was evolving, my grandson Eli and I got round to talking about the Miracle of the Monarchs; I'm speaking about the Monarch Butterfly.
Once numbered in their billions these beautiful insects have declined drastically in the last twenty years, mainly due to the ravages of pesticides.. Nevertheless, their winter home in Mexico is still a destination Mecca for tourists.
They hang in their millions in the high altitude pine forests, coloring the dark green foliage with massive splotches of orange and red.
But the question remains, "How do they find their way to their winter home?"
This brightly colored insect will lay eggs in Canada that hatch into caterpillars, which in turn spin a chrysalis, which then turns to mush. Then, inside the mush appears a brain less then the size of pin-head, which eventually belongs to a newly born monarch butterfly. Inside this pin-head brain is a system that guides the butterfly 2000 miles back to Mexico within a few yards of where it's mother began her journey a year or so before.
FIGURE THAT OUT,  when, last week, my Garmin G.P.S in my car sent me the wrong way on a 60 mile journey to Toronto.
