My friend, Doug Ferris, is my go-to man on Egypt. He worked there with his wife Evelyn, and has a keen insight into the character of the people and where the 'behind scenes' power really lies.
When President Mubarak was ousted and Morsi of the Muslim Brotherhood was elected I asked Doug what he thought.
His reply: " Don't believe everything you see and hear. The army is still the real power behind the throne.
Events have proved Doug right, no more so than today when news has come that General Mubarak is about to be released from prison.
That leaves Morsi behind bars, Mubarak back home, the military back in charge, the pyramids back on their base and everything the same as it was for centuries.
Figure that one out!
