Al Gore alias "The Joker"

Last week, the TV station 'CURRENT' was sold to the Arab network Al Jazeera for $500,000,000.

'CURRENT' TV, a champion in the battle against climate change, was jointly owned by Al Gore; a suitable fit since Gore has forever been telling us to change our light bulbs for the sake of sustainability.

Having chastised us 'fossil energy addicts' in his book "An Inconvenient Truth" Gore has now netted a cool hundred million dollars in selling his green network to a fossil fuel consortium from Qatar.

Not only that, but Al Jazeera has been one of the most vocal critics of U.S. policy in the Middle East.

Thus in one man and one move we have the embodiment of three reprehensible vices: greed, hypocrisy and cynicism.

Tipper, Gore's ex wife, would no doubt add two more "ingratitude and unfaithfulness" since it was Al who ditched her after his unsuccessful run for the White house.

Ah! Does this not make you long for the days when "Character was King" among the leaders of men?

Lance Armstrong:From Cheating to Cruelty

Today, Lance Armstrong has called for an amnesty to be granted to sport's dopers, not only in the field of cycling but also in all other areas of professional sport.
The idea in itself has merit but seems strange coming from the most profile, serial cheat of all time.

In my own heart I can extend a degree of sympathy to Armstrong (  the Tour de France  committee cannot award Armstrong titles to the second place finishers: they were doping as well!) but in Armstrong's case the drive to be Number One went far beyond the Yellow Jersey. He set out to crush anyone who threatened to break the ranks of silence in his team and won court cases against those who did.

That's when he went from cheating to cruelty.

In God's code of conduct, cheating is the violation of the commandment "Thou shalt not bear false witness".

However, cruelty and inhumanity against your fellow competitors is a violation of the Law of Love.

The sporting public may in time accept Armstrong back as a fallen hero, but his re-entry into the fellowship of brother cyclists will probably never happen.

No more "Live-Strong" bracelets, Lance. Just a single one for you

Trouble in the Boy Scout's Camp.

News has just broken that next month the Boy Scouts of America will open their tents to homosexual scout masters.

Long a bastion of biblical values and high spiritual principles the scout movement has finally capitulated to the incessant lobby of the "Gay Rights"movement and included 'sexual orientation' in their programme for young people.

They should not be too hasty in raising their new, all inclusive, rainbow flag.

Already their largest sponsor, the Southern Baptist Church of America, has sounded the bugle of war. They are threatening to secede from the ranks and take their money and kids with them.

Where will it all end? We don't know, but if the principles of the founder Baden Powell are adhered to, Boy Scouts of America might find themselves pitching their tent alone in the next international jamboree.

Jubilate.

Overweight? Another point of view.

Today I am printing a rejoinder to my January 14th post on eating
disorders.

This was written yesterday by Rev. Jack Kenehan who was my assistant pastor some years ago in the city of Barrie. He writes:

"My friend Ian, when he did his post on eating disorders, involved himself in some generalizations commonly held in society.

The anorexic models that look a picture of health do not exist in my book.

My long battle with being overweight began in my younger years through drinking coca-cola and developed from there. I later found that my metabolism had a clinical side to it that made my battle against obesity all the more fierce.

Christian people who are fat know all too well the scripture that says "Your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost" and are reminded daily when they look in the mirror that they are far from a size 8.

I disagree with Ian's opinion that obesity is an extension of a social experience. In my case it was just the opposite. I had a poor self image and turned privately to food for comfort and personal consolation.
Overweight people belong to just another classification that endures ostracism in society. The latest term brands us as "Health Sinners"

Please spare us from more judgment and bigotry.

Let me introduce you to "Grace Sandwiches"

A Grace Sandwich has love on both sides with truth in the middle.

Let's try loving fat people with the unconditional love of Christ.

You may find that in doing so they enlist your help as an accountability partner. Then everyone has the joy of meeting goals together.

Thank you for listening."
