Steve Jobs: an unfortunate legacy

Today's post is sent from my friend Sean Elliot who lives close by me in Barrie.

In the aftermath of Steve Jobs death there is an unusual footnote.

Ron Wayne was the co-founder of the Apple company.

He it was who came up with the ubiquitous "Apple Logo" as seen above.

Another less known fact was that Ron got into some financial difficulties, sold out his 10% share in company for $800:00 and left Jobs and Wozniak to get on with business.

If he had hung in, his 10% share of Apple would have been worth a cool $32 billion today!

Wayne went on to potter in  graphic design and wander down a few dead-ends before finishing in Nevada where he lives as a 76 year old senior. No doubt, from time time, the thought crosses his mind 'If only....'

Think about it.
Hebrews 19:35 says:

" Cast not away your confidence (in Christ) which has a great recompense and reward."

In today's parlance:
' If you are having trouble with your faith NEVER think of abandoning Christ! You will finish in a dead end when you could be enjoying an immeasurable eternal reward in heaven.'

Blessings my friends.

Traditions and their importance.

       Danton                                                                                                Robspierre

Yesterday's post produced some discussion around the importance of Christian tradition.

In 1794 at the height of the French Revolution a massive attempt was made to "de-christianize" the nation.

It began with eradicating all Christian festivals and traditions.
Then many of the churches in Paris were changed into "Temples of Reason" where pagan plays substituted worship and sermons. To top it off, the seven day week was turned into  ten days and the Sunday rest day was abolished.

Robspierre, Danton and their gang of thugs thought they had done the people a great service.

Their salvation of society also included decapitating 100,000 of their fellow citizens in what was termed "The Red Mass".

Meanwhile, thirty miles away across the English channnel, England had gone through a spiritual awakening under the inspired preaching of the Wesley's and George Whitfield, that swept half the nation into the Kingdom of God.

By 1795 the bloodbath in France was over and the nation was left prostrated.

England, however, was vaulted by God to become leader of an Empire upon which the sun never set.

The lesson from all of this?  Be careful who you believe!

Traditions with a difference

Pauline, my wife, was at the supermarket on Friday shopping for Thanksgiving. The girl at the check-out greeted her with
"Happy Turkey Day"

So like many other of our annual events, Thanksgiving has been reduced to Turkey Day.
Should it surprise us?
With the waning influence of the gospel message in the West many Christian traditions are being air-brushed out to be relaced by such banal nonsense as "Happy Holidays" for Christmas, Spring solstice for Easter and Pause Day for Sunday.

Such are some of the politically correct versions of our secular society.
The Bible says:
"Cursed be the ones that remove the ancient landmarks"

But fret not.

Other greetings may shortly be upon the lips of the growing faithful   'GLORIOUS RAMADAN'  for example.

If the infidels don't want Christ in the calenders they can have Mohammed and his ilk.

There IS , however, an upside to all of this.
Some of those Hollywood bimbos would look better under a burqa.
